Taylor, 19, wound up on the streets as a result of the financial and emotional strain of his mother’s health problems and a deteriorating relationship with his step-father. After a few months of squatting and sleeping outdoors – under bridges, in a dog park, under the Riverwalk, and in abandoned buildings – Taylor felt he had nowhere else to turn. He had heard about Covenant House from a friend and decided it was time to ask for help.

After just a few months in our Crisis center, Taylor joined our Rights of Passage program because he wanted to be treated more like an adult and to have more independence. Taylor is now employed and thriving – he reports he’s having an “awesome” time, and he’s slowly saving money to one day find his own apartment.
