shanteShante was doing well in our crisis program but needed longer-term housing and support while she pursued her dream of becoming a licensed hair stylist, so she deciced to enter our girls’ transitional living program. She worked part-time at McDonalds and trained full-time at the Aveda Institute, paying for her classes while saving as much as she could.

Shante graduated earlier this year and received some job offers; she plans to stay with us a few more months while she prepares for her state licensing exam and saves some more money for an affordable apartment. Shante is now 21 and ready for independence.
