Covenant House New Orleans provides shelter and services
to homeless, runaway and at-risk youth 16 - 21. On any given night
we have about 75 kids in residence. We have grown since our humble
beginning in 1984 when we offered outreach and referral services
from a leased office on Canal Street. Our 70-bed Crisis Center opened
in 1987 and two transitional living residences, with an additional
25 beds, were added a year later.
Since then we have touched the lives of over 17,000
youth, providing them with food, shelter, clothing, medical attention,
individual and family counseling, substance abuse management, educational
assistance, vocational and job training, living skills and so much
more.
We seek to rebuild and reunite families whenever
possible, or offer youth the opportunity and the tools they need
to build healthy, independent and productive lives.
